Summary:The article addresses the information about the opening and public utilities of the DIPPBA archive, Argentina, in Recent History research articles. Also, it analyses the uses and affective experiences of the archive that can be traced as meaning effects of these publications. In this way, the public transformation of the archive is considered a process of production of figurations, uses and experiences of the archive as “public”. From a perspective concerned with the following of textual materialities, and which considers contributions from anthropology, discourse analysis and semiotics, the article proposes to show the participation of the academic field –in particular, Recent History– in the contemporary appropriation and meaning generation about this archive, with regard specifically to its transformation into a public archive.
