El tamaño y la forma de la parcela experimental para ajo (Allium sativum L.) se determinaron en ensayos comparativos en relación con el número de repeticiones y el grado de precisión. Se utilizó el "peso del bulbo" (gr) del clon experimental "Alpa Suqula" obtenido a partir de cultivo de meristemas de la población "Rosado Paraguayo". A partir de un ensayo de uniformidad, con 780 unidades principales, se formaron parcelas secundarias (16 m²) en forma horizontal y vertical. Sin tener en cuenta el costo, el tamaño óptimo de parcela para ajo se estableció entre 3 y 4 m², con coeficientes de variación de 17 y 14% respectivamente. La forma óptima es de 4 surcos de 2 m de largo cada uno.
