In the treated area and in an adjacent untreated area, after 2 years, different samplings were carried out to evaluate the changes in the structure, floristic composition and forage production of the plant community caused by the phytocide. The results obtained led to the following: a)In the treated area, the cover and density of live shrubs decreased. b)There was a selective effect on Acacia furcatispina, a shrub that is very harmful to livestock production in the area due to its characteristics. Most of the other species were not affected. c)The treated area showed an increase in the production of dry grassy matter and a decrease in bare soil due to an increase in herbaceous cover. d)Long-term studies will be necessary to determine the evolution of the vegetation, which will make it possible to detect the real effects of the phytocide. |

En un bosque xerofítico degradado "fachinal", dominado por un estrato arbustivo de 1 a 3 m. de altura donde predominaba Acacia furcatispina (teatín, garabato macho) sobre otras especies leñosas espinosas, con un escaso dosel de árboles, se efectuó una aplicación aérea de Picloran: + 2,4,5-T a razón de 2 1/Ha. con un caudal mínimo de 40 1/Ha. En el área tratada y en otra colindante no tratada se realizaron, al cabo de 2 años, diferentes muestreos a fin de evaluar los cambios en la estructura, composición florística y producción forrajera de la comunidad vegetal ocasionados por el fitocida. Los resultados obtenidos permitieron arribar a lo siguiente: a)En la zona tratada disminuyó la cobertura y la densidad de arbustos vivos. b)Hubo un efecto selectivo sobre Acacia furcatispina, arbusto que por sus características resulta muy perjudicial para la actividad ganadera de la zona. La mayoría de las otras especies no resultaron mayormente afectadas. c) El área tratada mostró aumento de la producción de materia seca graminosa y disminución del suelo descubierto por incremento de la cobertura herbácea. d) Serán necesarios estudios a largo plazo a fin de determinar la evolución de la vegetación lo cual permitirá detectar los reales efectos del fitocida.
