El artículo sintetiza el rol que le cupo a la Red Universitaria de Educación a distancia en la preparación del proyecto de ley del Ministerio de Educación de Argentina Res.2641-E/2017. Se enuncian los principales debates que se dieron en torno a temas claves a la educación a distancia, presentándose los aspectos centrales de la nueva normativa. Se destaca como novedad que las universidades deben tener un sistema institucional de educación a distancia el cual, deberá ser evaluado y acreditado para ser reconocido y las carreras a distancia que se presenten para su reconocimiento, deberán ser acordes al mismo. Finalmente, se considera que sin duda la nueva normativa abre nuevos horizontes con la incorporación de la evaluación de las condiciones institucionales que hacen posibles las buenas prácticas, si bien aún quedan desafíos a enfrentar.
