Representaciones patriarcales presentes en los siglos XIX y XXI : la perpetuidad del sistema patriarcal
Published 2016“…A careful analysis could explain particular social processes that could account for the perpetuity of patriarchy, and the results could suggest that the patriarchal system adapts itself throughout time, and does not lose its hegemony in the construction of social identity. With the purpose of enquiring about parallels between gender representations, a first analysis will be necessary in order to observe whether the films Bridget Jones’ Diary and Bridget Jones’ Diary: the Edge of Reason could be considered a parody of the classic nineteenth-century novel by Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice, and the way ironic inversion marks the critical difference between them.…”

“IT WAS MY ISSUE”: PERSONAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT AND INTERNALIZED HETEROSEXISM AMONG GAYS AND LESBIANS NURSES
Published 2019“…Here we analyse the strategies used by gays and lesbians to manage the personal information related to their sexual orientation in order to avoid stigmatization processes at work. This article is based on two main categories that structures this research: (a) the possibilities of expressing one’s sexual orientation in the workplace and the relation with real or anticipated stigma derived from interactions with colleagues, superiors and patients; and (b) the internalized heterosexism as a category related to anticipated and experienced stigma as well as the different levels of openness about one’s sexual orientation in the workplace. The study was conducted from a qualitative scope: 20 interviews to gays, lesbians and heterosexual nurses were carried out and analysed, in addition to secondary sources, following the guidelines of grounded theory. As main conclusion we highlight the association between the assumption of one’s sexual identity, the use of strategies to manage personal information of openness or concealment and the internalized heterosexism, as they may have an impact in the reproduction of oppression and stigma among gays and lesbians. …”

Osteobiographies: Multidisciplinary contributions to the study of human remains
Published 2020“…These new approaches formulated the need to consider the physical body as socially created (Lorber and Martin, 2011), being a real and symbolic vehicle of political and social identities (Knudson and Stojanowski, 2008). In its origins, the term “osteobiography” was coined to refer to the compilation of all the information available from the analysis of a skeleton that makes it possible to narrate the life of an individual (Saul, 1972). …”
