    “…Among all classic medicinal substances, Chloral Hydratecould be the most actual one because it is the most usedsedative in children, specially in diagnostic proceduresthat require the patient’s stationary (CT, NMR, ECG, EEG,etc.).The aims of this work are: a) to revise the indications ofper oral Chloral Hydrate in literature for diagnosticprocedures in Pediatrics and its prominent characteristics;b) to describe the use of per oral Chloral Hydrate inpediatric diagnostic procedures.Relevant sources were utilized for searching, and a drugutilization study in a pediatric high complexity hospital,with children among 1 month to 14 years old, wasperformed.According to the literature, Chloral Hydrate produces aneffective sedation in 80-90% of pediatric patients. InArgentina, trademarks of this drug are not available; thenmagistral preparations are used for diagnosticprocedures. …”
