Absceso cerebral por Nocardiafarcinica en un paciente inmunocompetente by Martínez, Valeria, Bressan, María del Rosario, Tempo, Lucila, Ríos, M. Jesus, Pagura, Gaston, Fernández Escobar, Juan, Nagel, Alicia

    Published 2019
“…And because of the lesions observed in the neuroimaging test, encephalon primary neoplasia was suspected.Sanitary discharge was granted and follow-up by an external office was indicated. The patient re-entered the institution due to venous thrombosis of the lower left limb.During hospitalization he had a tonic-clonic seizure and another nuclear magnetic resonance was made, which showed a similar image to the previous one, but with great growth, so neurosurgical intervention was required.A new biopsy was taken and the material was sent to culture analysis, where Nocardiafarcinica developed. In the face of this finding, antimicrobial treatment was performed, significantly improving neurological signs and brain images. We must emphasize the importance of considering nocardiosis in brain lesions differential diagnosis to establish and effective antibiotic treatment in order to reduce the morbidity and mortality caused by this infection. …”
