The popularization of prehistoric archaeology in Argentina: the problem of the antiquity of man and its visual devices (1860-1920)
Published 2020“…To this end, we present three examples of the forms acquired by this knowledge and the practices associated with its study: the visual course of the explanatory hypotheses about the ways of life of the first inhabitants of the Río de La Plata region, the presentation of images about the archaeological work in the graphic press and the exhibition of prehistoric life in museums and theme park projects. Through these cases we analyze the mechanisms that operated in the construction and circulation of knowledge about archeology in different contexts and for diverse audiences. …”
