ABSTRACT: General goal/aim: the study has been made aiming to understand and analyze the motivations of the practices' users which are considered alternatives and complementaries to the Western sanitary model, in the locations of La Falda, Huerta Grande and Villa Giardino, located in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. Methodological aspect: the methodological design comes in response to a modality of qualitative, flexible and emergent research, consequent to the purpose of reconstruct the meaning given by the subject's experience in the use of a non-conventional practice. The obtainment of the empiric material was made in two moments. At first, a semi structured quiz of self-administration was used to make an initial approach to the study field. The instrument, which consisted of eight items, was distributed in different sectors of the community selected by the accessibility criteria. From the quizzes' analysis, those in which there were extended answers were selected, assuming that it was an indicator of increased predisposition, convening those polled to tell their experience through interviews. The selection of the others interviewed was made using the technique called 'Bola de Nieve' (snowball), which emergent number was determined by saturation, conforming a corpus of fourteen interviews.
