The present study aimed to define whether sex chromosome complement (SCC) may differentially modulate sex differences in basal ANG II and ANG-(1-7) receptor expression of kidney and specific brain nuclei involved in cardiovascular homeostasis. For this purpose, we used the "four core genotypes" mouse model, in which the effect of gonadal sex (testes vs. ovaries) and sex chromosome complement (XX vs. XY) are uncoupled, allowing comparisons of sexually dimorphic traits between XX and XY females as well as in XX and XY males.
