The soil is the largest organic carbon reservoir in the terrestrial biosphere and is related to environmental controls such as vegetation. The soil and the above-ground dead biomass are important carbon compartments in drylands ecosystems. They depend on local controls and patterns that should be studied. The objective of this work is to study the role of the vegetation canopy of woodlands in the regulation of soil organic carbon and dead biomass in the septentrional and meridional areas of the Monte region in Argentina.
