description Online training opportunities have grown exponentially worldwide and, therefore, also the need to assess their educational quality. From an organizational systemic approach, every virtual educational proposal presents interrelated and interdependent processes, sub-processes and activities. In particular, this research focuses on the production process, by means of the identification and characterization of the sub-processes, activities and key actors associated. It also proposes significant quality indicators to guide its management and monitoring. Unlike most approaches used to characterize this process, in this investigation, the modeling, the design and the development of virtual environments for teaching, learning and communication are considered from a systemic point of view.  These environments will make possible the training proposals but not the methodologies extrapolated from other contexts with biased visions towards the purely sequential and instrumental implementation of digital environments.

Las propuestas formativas virtuales ofrecidas a nivel global han extendido exponencialmente su alcance y, por tanto, también la necesidad de evaluar su calidad educativa. Desde un enfoque sistémico organizacional, en toda propuesta educativa virtual se identifican procesos, sub-procesos y actividades interrelacionadas e interdependientes. Particularmente, en esta indagación se aborda el proceso de producción, identificando y caracterizando los sub-procesos, actividades y actores centrales asociados a este, además de proponer indicadores de calidad significativos que orienten la gestión y el seguimiento del mismo. A diferencia de la mayoría de los enfoques de caracterización de dicho proceso, en esta investigación se consideran desde una visión sistémica, el modelado, diseño y desarrollo de ambientes virtuales de enseñanza, aprendizaje y comunicación que vehiculizarán las propuestas formativas y no las metodologías extrapoladas desde otros contextos con visiones sesgadas hacia la implementación netamente secuencial e instrumental de entornos digitales.
