Los trabajos que se tienen hasta el momento sobre identificación de relaciones entre pares de estímulos no han explorado de manera exhaustiva las implicaciones del uso de distintos tipos de relaciones. Además, no se ha considerado la posibilidad de que la identificación de distintos tipos de relaciones implique distintos procesos, o grados de dificultad que afecten la codificación del estímulo y la inferencia que se hace para su identificación. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo comparar dos relaciones semánticas (relaciones de pertenencia y de inclusión) en cuanto a la precisión y tiempo de respuesta en su identificación. Participaron 79 estudiantes universitarios de 18 a 26 años. Se encontró un mejor rendimiento y menor tiempo de respuesta para identificar relaciones de pertenencia en comparación con las relaciones de inclusión. Se discuten las implicaciones teóricas de los hallazgos.
