Nuestros conocimientos relativos a la acción que el alcohol etílico ejerce sobre el organismo humano son exclusivamente anatomo-patológicos. No cabe duda que las alteraciones citológicas descriptas en el alcoholismo crónico son precedidas y acompañadas por modificaciones histoquímicas; pero nuestra ignorancia es completa sobre este punto y tan solo poseemos algunas hipótesis que tratan de explicar el mecanismo de la narcosis debida al alcohol.
