Description
Summary:Sleep plays a fundamental role in human health. There is ample evidence that sleep deficit causes serious consequences for individual and public health. In this study, we conducted a narrative literature review on different nudges to improve individuals' sleep duration. Nudges are interventions designed to induce people's behavior in a subtle and non-coercive way. Until now, despite the scarcity of specific studies with a behavioral science perspective, nudges represent a promising avenue to promote healthier sleep behavior. Specifically, we highlight the positive impact of sending text messages on increasing the amount of sleep individuals get. We conclude by suggesting behavioral science recommendations for the design of new interventions.
