description We empirically identify and delve into how current technological resources are incorporated into the daily life of institutions, and how under their various forms and uses they have not led to a significant transformation of ways of thinking and interacting with the dynamics of knowledge and social change. The technical utility conferred to technologies has limited the scope of institutional resources to enhance the transcendence and sense of transformation that such technologies are capable of deploying in the social and educational spheres. To demonstrate this, we analyse recent university training in social sciences and education, visualizing how this phenomenon is reflected in the final products (theses in education), and in their limited supply in terms of social impact results. We conclude with a balance of challenges for the university institution in the presence of innovations in the production and circulation of knowledge, and in the sociocultural changes that have taken place.

Identificamos empíricamente y profundizamos en cómo los actuales recursos tecnológicos son incorporados a la cotidianidad de las instituciones, y cómo bajo sus diversas formas y usos no han dado lugar a una transformación significativa de los modos de pensar y de interactuar frente a las dinámicas del conocimiento y cambio social. La utilidad técnica conferida a las tecnologías ha limitado el alcance de los recursos institucionales para potenciar la trascendencia y sentido de transformación que dichas tecnologías son capaces de desplegar en lo social y educativo. Para demostrarlo se analiza la reciente formación universitaria en ciencias sociales y educación, visualizando cómo tal fenómeno se refleja en los productos finales (las tesis en educación), y en su limitada oferta en resultados de impacto social. Concluimos con un balance de retos y desafíos para la institución universitaria ante las innovaciones en la producción y circulación de conocimiento, y los cambios socioculturales acontecidos.
