La histórica casa tradicional debía asociarse a la celebración de nuestro primer centenario de vida independiente, vinculando a la fecha gloriosa el acto más trascendental que ella realiza, en homenaje a esa legión de patriotas esclarecidos por la virtud y la ciencia, que inmolados en aras de un ideal sublime, a trueque de luchas cruentas, de indecibles afanes y sacrificios, nos legaron patria e instituciones libres, a cuyo amparo se han desenvuelto las fuerzas vitales de esta nación admirable, que hoy contemplamos en vertiginosa carrera hacia sus grandes destinos.
