Description
Summary:Psychological evaluation requires the development of focal techniques with adequate psychometric properties. In this study, a contribution to the psychology applied to sport was made, based on the linguistic, conceptual, and metric adaptation of the questionnaire on Psychological Characteristics Related to Sports Performance (CPRD; Gimeno, Buceta, & Pérez-Llanta, 2001). A total sample of 507 athletes who practice collective sports in Buenos Aires was used. An expert judgment was made, the original model was tested, the psychometric properties of the preliminary version were analysed, and a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed to obtain evidence about the structural validity of the instrument and its internal consistency. The CFA showed adequate goodness-of-fit indices for a 4-factor solution. In turn, internal consistency indices were found to be from adequate to very good. Evidence is provided of having obtained a version of the CPRD with acceptable validity and reliability levels.
