The aim of this article is to systematize the experience in a university extension programdeveloped in the Health Center Nº 90 in the neighborhood Ituzaingó Anexo.
This neighborhood is located in the southeast of Córdoba city. It is settled on lands which were used for soybean production up until 2002 and fumigated with agrotoxins since the 1940’s. In 2001 the local government declared it a Health Emergency Zone, which represented the starting point for a series of state and civil society interventions aiming to identify and characterize the pollution present in the area and reduce its impact on human health.
The experience began in 2015 with a pre-professional practice process and continued during 2016 and 2017 as part of the University Extension Program. Hereby we present the community experiences of dispute of meanings related to environmental pollution and of politicization of the issue, as well as the socio-demographic survey processes on the population and epidemiological surveillance around the pathologies identified as tracers associated with the exposure to agrotoxins.
