It is a crisis of knowledge and of ways to understand, explain and manage the environment. This crisis is a crisis of the hegemonic epistemologies, imposed by cartesian heritage. Considering this phenomenon, we need to generate new logics which could allow us to create new perspectives and readings, without resigning the disciplinary knowledge, but making it possible to integrate new readings and theoretical frameworks instead. In this context, University can train future generations of professionals, encouraging the integration of environmental knowledge into the curriculum, rescuing their historical traditions and articulating academic background with popular knowledge and experiences. University outreach is the substrate which could guarantee a situated practice, allowing the integration of academic functions, methodologies and knowledge as a path leading to a socially sustainable environment. |

El creciente deterioro del ambiente como resultado de una política extractivista globalizada ha conducido no sólo a una crisis ambiental sin precedentes, sino también a una crisis de la racionalidad y de las epistemologías hegemónicas impuestas por la herencia cartesiana que interpela el modo de conocer, explicar y gestionar nuestro entorno. Ante este fenómeno se impone la necesidad de transitar nuevas lógicas que permitan construir miradas novedosas, que sin renunciar a los saberes disciplinares, posibiliten la integración de nuevas lecturas y marcos teóricos de referencia. La universidad, en este contexto, podría jugar un rol protagónico en la formación de las futuras generaciones, en tanto fomente la inserción de los saberes ambientales en la currícula, rescatando sus tradiciones históricas y articulando la formación académica con los saberes populares. En este sentido, la extensión, constituye un sustrato que permite facilitar una práctica situada capaz de fomentar la integración de funciones académicas, metodologías y saberes eclécticos, como camino hacia un entorno socialmente sustentable.
