The approach to the community through engagement, together with research and teaching constitute the mission of universities, which is significant as an instance for students to get closer to reality. The objective of the intervention was to create a space to raise awareness about the importance of acquiring healthy habits for heart care and well-being, and to make them contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The area of development was the Hospital Nacional de Clínicas, by setting a stand inside the institution. Experiences and knowledge were exchanged with those who visited the mentioned space. Prior to the meeting, the community engagement team participated in two training workshops on communication and counseling on cardiovascular health. 500 magnets with healthy messages were delivered to promote cardiovascular health. By listening to the testimonies of the students, it was possible to assess the importance of their learning by means of this experiential practice, which allowed them to experience concrete realities in their territory, new forms of reasoning, interaction with different social actors and with their traditional knowledge, to learn about new scenarios, to build new knowledge, and relate knowledge to action in actual situations.
