Description
Summary:The scale to evaluate the social stigma related to COVID-19 is an instrument that arises from the need to measure this variable and implement policies towards mental health; the objective is to develop and study the psychometric properties of the scale in university students. This research is of an instrumental type, in a sample of 1353 university students, aged between 16 and 50 years (M = 21.6, SD = 4.5), 69.2% women and 30.8% men. Validity was assessed using Eyken's V CI; an EFA in which 13 items grouped into 3 factors were extracted that explained 64.9% of the variance; for the CFA, two models were tested, the first one-dimensional and the second from the AFE, which presented a better fit [ = 195.21, gl = 62, p = .000; GFI = .99, CFI = .94, RMSEA = .06]. The reliability with Alpha for confidentiality was .75, fears .70 and prejudices .71; with Omega it was .87, .75 and .80 respectively. It is concluded that the scale has adequate psychometric characteristics and its use is recommended in the assessment of social stigma towards COVID-19
