Summary:The current article analyses the interaction processes that occurs in the virtual classroom. The analysis is based on the revision of communication and multibehavioural semiotics theoretical models. The purpose is to propose communicational strategies that favour the building of knowledge. The objectives of this work are analysing and characterising the teachers’ and students’ participation in the virtual classroom; studying the exploitation of resources and tools available in the teaching and learning platform inserted in the 2.0 web; and proposing strategies that might be used by teachers and students in pursuit of favouring communication and interaction within virtual environments, and mediated by technology.
