This paper faces the delicate issue of the systematic use of enforced disappearance in Egyptian reality and how Giulio Regeni, a young Italian researcher, was a victim of this violation of human rights. Through careful reconstruction of the facts, in particular of the numerous contradictory behaviours of the Egyptian authorities, the State's responsibility is sustained in the death of the young investigator. Furthermore, is supposed as this conduct can constitutes an international illicit that, in light of the jurisprudence of the International Criminal Court for the former Yugoslavia, may represent a crime against humanity. In conclusion, some tools that the Italian State or the Regeni’s family can use to solve the case are examined.
