Description
Summary:This exploratory and analytical descriptive study systematizes aspects already known and provides others that serve as input to deepen the policy towards self-employment and its relationship with the Cuban socialist project. A qualitative methodological approach with methods and techniques of documentary analysis, non-participant observation, semi-structured interview and experts was used. It is a critical analysis of development theories and systematized theoretical budgets on the informal sector, self-employment and small and medium enterprises. It was found that the approach to the phenomenon of the policy of promoting self-employment must be carried out from certain epistemological particularities to understand it deeply. For a renewed and multidimensional view of development, it is necessary to integrate elements of different scientific disciplines, of the popular worldview and political-ideological contents of organizations that today dispute the project of creation of socialism. There are repeated elements in their proposals, which complement or contradict each other. That is why a coherent selection among them is important, with the utopias of the Cuban project and with the characteristics of the population and the system.
