Desde noviembre de 2016 preside la Asociación Argentina de Economía Política (AAEP). Profesor en las universidades Nacional de La Plata y de Buenos Aires, entre 1986 y 1994 trabajó en la oficina de Buenos Aires de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), y a partir de 1994 en la Fundación de Investigaciones Económicas Latinoamericanas (FIEL). Es miembro de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias Económicas (ANCE).
