This man of letters, thinker, philosopher, jurist, represents in the process of the juridical ideas of Brazil, one of the milestones that mark the ascending path of this admirable American people. In him, the philosophical depth of Tobias Barreto, spirit of a precursor and master in Brazilian thought, and the marvelous technique and depth of legal knowledge of Teixeira de Freitas, come together. En el constante afán de una vida entera dedicada a las especu-laciones de la mente, en la suavidad y en la dulzura, .que eran de la esencia de su naturaleza privilegiada, se ha extinguido el día 26 de julio pasado en la ciudad de Río de Janeiro, el ilustre juriscon-sulto brasileño Olovis Bevilaqua. Este hombre de letras, pensador, filósofo, jurista, representa en el proceso de las ideas jurídiGas del Brasil, uno de los :hitos que señalan el camino ascendente de ese admirable pueblo americano. En él vienen a compendiarse la profundidad filosófica de Tobías Barreto, espíritu de precursor y maestro en el pensamiento brasileño, y la técnica maravillosa y la profundidad de los conocimientos ju-rídicos de Teixeira de Freitas.
