Description
Summary:In this paper I analyze Manuel Castells´s main formula of power associated with his notion of flow, and one of the centerpieces of his sociological theory of power from 1986: the relationship between flows of power and power of flows. This is a conceptual formula not defined by the author, strikingly cryptic and elusive, while absolutely key to understanding his contemporary vision of power and State. The research help to discover, inter alia, the relationship between economics and politics that finally proposes the Spanish sociologist, from which it follows an extremely radical version of the thesis of irreversible decline of the nation state, still in force in contemporary social theory despite the sociopolitical changes recorded in Latin America in recent years.
