If we were to expand these news and systematize them with a generic criterion, we could reconstruct on these lives a great part of the history of Spanish South America, from 1535 to the middle of the XVIII century. |

Esta monografía desarrolla la ascendencia en América del doctor Gregorio Funes a través de sus diferentes ramas. Nos muestra cómo la historia del Perú, Chile, Rio de la Plata, Paraguay y Tucumán, tuvo entre los protagonistas de sus hechos más salientes a los antepasados del Deán cordobés, algunos de los cuales penetran con su estirpe en la legendaria época prehispánica. Al mismo tiempo se nos presenta la oportunidad de exhumar nombres ignorados de conquistadores, pacificadores y colonizadores, pareados con otros ya famosos cuyas biografías nos limitamos a recordar. Si ampliáramos estas noticias y las sistematizáramos con un criterio genérico, podríamos reconstruir sobre esas vidas gran parte de la historia de Sud América española, desde 1535 hasta mediados del siglo XVIII.
