Summary:Claude Bernard was the founder of Experimental Physiology, France, and showed an understanding of the importance of interaction between physiology and psychology in the study of behavior in his work Introduction à l’étude de la médecine experimentale and other documents. Miguel Covian was one of the pioneers of the physiology in Brazil and its scientific approach was guided rather by Claude Bernard. This study will examine the Claude Bernard's contribution in the establishment and development of psychobiology in Brazil, through the particular influence of Miguel Rolando Covian in pioneers groups of research in this area in Brazil.
