René Cortázar is a Chilean economist and politician of the Christian Democratic Party. Further, Cortázar has been accused by Raúl Sohr of acting in tandem with Pizarreño in suppresing journalistic investigations into the asbestos issue while he was director Televisión Nacional de Chile from 1995 to 2000. The asbestos-related accusations against Cortázar came to the spotlight again amidst his candidacy for Constitutional Convention in 2021.
